Check my French translation?

Passée une semaine dans la bibliothèque poussiéreuse
Attente pour du le mots à saute de à moi
Nous rencontrée à côté de tour de sort
Marine français, mon copain soldat

Nous rencontrée à côté de la lune sur le lac argenté
Vous avez ma façon
Dit, « Je veux tu à reste. »

It's supposed to say:

Spent a week in a dusty library
Waiting for some words to jump at me
We met by a trick of fate
French navy, my sailor mate

We met by the moon on a silvery lake
You came my way
Said, "I want you to stay."

Did I do it correctly? I'm quite new at French and this is my first assignment so I have NO IDEA what I'm doing. All I had for help was a French grammar book and dictionary.

The lyrics translated are from the song, French Navy by Camera Obsura.

No, it looks like you typed it into a translator, because some of the lines are literal and there are a lot of grammar errors. In French you have to write the subject, so even though the song only says spent a week in a dusty library, you have to say "J'ai passé une semaine dans une bibliothèque poussiéreuse". Plus this is the past tense and that "I want you to stay" line is the subjunctive, and the verbs aren't conjugated correctly. If you're a beginner you might was to pick a song that's in the present tense or a litte easier to translate. I won't do your homework for you, but if you need more help with translations or corrections message me.
